Last updated: 1 January 2025. These terms govern your use of ZuluCash services. Please read carefully before using the platform.

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ZuluCash Corporation (Pty) Ltd's platform (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and all applicable South African laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use our Service.

ZuluCash Corporation (Pty) Ltd ("ZuluCash", "we", "our", or "us") is a private company registered in South Africa (Registration No. 2024/123456/07) operating a peer-to-peer digital payment platform.

Important: By creating a ZuluTag, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and a South African resident or legal visitor, and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

Description of Service

ZuluCash provides a digital wallet and peer-to-peer money transfer service that allows users to:

  • Create a unique username ("ZuluTag") as their payment identity
  • Fund a digital wallet using a South African debit or credit card
  • Send money instantly to other ZuluCash users using only their ZuluTag
  • Receive money from other ZuluCash users into their wallet
  • View a complete history of all wallet transactions

ZuluCash processes payments via the Stitch Payments API, a licensed South African payment service provider. ZuluCash is not a bank and does not hold a banking licence. Wallet balances are not bank deposits and are not covered by the Deposit Insurance Scheme.

ZuluTag Registration

Eligibility

To register a ZuluTag, you must be at least 18 years of age and provide accurate information during registration.

ZuluTag Rules

  • A ZuluTag must begin with the @ symbol followed by 3–20 characters
  • Only letters (A–Z, a–z), numbers (0–9), and underscores (_) are permitted
  • Spaces, special characters (except underscore), and offensive terms are not permitted
  • Each ZuluTag is unique — once claimed, no other user may register the same tag
  • ZuluCash reserves the right to reclaim tags that violate these policies

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your PIN and for all activities that occur under your ZuluTag. You must notify ZuluCash immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.

Wallet & Funds

Your ZuluCash wallet is a prepaid electronic money account. Funds deposited into your wallet are held in trust by ZuluCash on your behalf in a ring-fenced account held with a South African licensed bank.

Funding Limits

  • Minimum single top-up: R10.00
  • Maximum single top-up: R50,000.00
  • Daily wallet funding limit: R100,000.00 (subject to FICA verification)
  • Maximum wallet balance: R500,000.00

Withdrawals

Wallet funds may be withdrawn to a verified South African bank account. Withdrawals are processed within 1–2 business days. Withdrawal functionality will be enabled in a future release.

Note (Demo Platform): This is a demonstration platform. No real money is processed. All balances, transactions, and card charges are simulated for demonstration purposes only.

Transfers & Payments

Sending Money

You may send money to any registered ZuluCash user using their ZuluTag. Before initiating a transfer, you must ensure:

  • The recipient's ZuluTag is accurate and belongs to the intended recipient
  • You have sufficient funds in your ZuluCash wallet
  • You have authorised the transaction with your PIN

Transaction Finality

All completed transfers are final and irreversible. ZuluCash cannot reverse a transfer once it has been processed. If you send money to the wrong ZuluTag, you must contact the recipient directly. ZuluCash will assist in facilitating dispute resolution but cannot guarantee recovery of funds.

Transfer Limits

  • Minimum transfer: R1.00
  • Maximum single transfer: R50,000.00
  • Daily send limit: R100,000.00 (subject to verification level)

Fees

ZuluCash is committed to transparent, honest pricing. Our current fee structure:

  • Account creation: Free
  • Wallet funding via card: Free (card issuer fees may apply)
  • Peer-to-peer transfers: Free
  • Receiving money: Free
  • Monthly account fee: R0.00

ZuluCash reserves the right to introduce fees with 30 days' advance notice to users. If you do not agree to any revised fees, you may close your account.

Security & PIN

Your ZuluCash account is protected by a 4–6 digit PIN. You are solely responsible for keeping your PIN confidential. ZuluCash staff will never ask for your full PIN via any communication channel.

  • Do not share your PIN with anyone, including ZuluCash support staff
  • If you suspect your PIN has been compromised, change it immediately
  • ZuluCash uses 256-bit AES encryption for all data in transit and at rest
  • Two-factor authentication is available and recommended for all accounts

Prohibited Use

You may not use ZuluCash for any of the following purposes:

  • Money laundering, terrorist financing, or any activity contrary to FICA or POCA
  • Fraud, phishing, or impersonation of another person or entity
  • Purchasing, facilitating, or distributing illegal goods or services
  • Circumventing any applicable exchange control regulations
  • Creating multiple accounts to abuse any promotional offer
  • Using automated systems or bots to access the platform without written consent

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account suspension, forfeiture of wallet funds, and reporting to relevant authorities including the South African Police Service and the Financial Intelligence Centre.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, ZuluCash shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

ZuluCash's total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total amount of fees paid by you to ZuluCash in the 12 months preceding the claim; or (b) R1,000.00.

ZuluCash is not liable for losses arising from: unauthorised access to your account due to your failure to keep credentials secure; losses arising from incorrect ZuluTag entry; downtime of third-party payment processors; or losses caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Privacy Policy

ZuluCash is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information.

Information We Collect

  • Registration data (ZuluTag, contact details)
  • Transaction data (amounts, counterparties, timestamps)
  • Device and usage data (browser type, IP address, login history)
  • Identity verification documents (when required by FICA)

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the ZuluCash Service
  • To process transactions and prevent fraud
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations
  • To communicate with you about your account and our Service

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with: our payment processor (Stitch Payments); regulatory authorities as required by law; and service providers who assist in operating our platform, under strict data processing agreements.

POPIA Compliance

ZuluCash processes personal information in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). As the responsible party, ZuluCash has appointed a designated Information Officer.

Your Rights Under POPIA

  • The right to access personal information held about you
  • The right to correct inaccurate, misleading, or outdated personal information
  • The right to object to the processing of your personal information
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • The right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa

Termination

You may close your ZuluCash account at any time by contacting support. Upon account closure, any remaining wallet balance (above R1.00) will be refunded to a verified South African bank account within 5 business days.

ZuluCash may suspend or terminate your account immediately if we determine (in our sole discretion) that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or if required to do so by law or a regulatory authority.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa, with Johannesburg, Gauteng as the chosen seat of jurisdiction.

ZuluCash is committed to resolving disputes amicably. We encourage you to contact our support team before initiating any legal proceedings.
